Benjamin Busch is a writer, filmmaker, and illustrator. Following a degree in studio art from Vassar College, he served 16 years as a Marine Corps infantry and light armored reconnaissance officer, deploying for combat tours in Iraq in 2003 and again in 2005 where he was wounded in the battle for Ramadi. As an actor he played Officer Colicchio for three seasons on the HBO series The Wire, and Major Eckloff on the HBO miniseries Generation Kill. He’s the author of the acclaimed memoir Dust to Dust (Ecco) and his essays have arrived in Harper’s, The New York Times Magazine, Guernica, NPR, and Best American Travel Writing. His poems have been awarded the James Dickey Prize and have appeared in North American Review, Prairie Schooner, Five Points, Epiphany, and Nimrod. He teaches creative nonfiction in the MFA program at Sierra Nevada College, Tahoe and lives on a farm in Michigan.
