In September, CAIC looks forward to sharing our thirteenth-annual Collaborative Works Festival: Chicago’s premier showcase of art song and vocal chamber music.
The Song of Bard, will examine William Shakespeare’s influence on the world of song. Featuring two main stage concerts and a masterclass, the 2024 Festival will feature the music of the countless composers who have been inspired by William Shakespeare’s work, and probe scholar Harold Bloom’s bold assertion that it was Shakespeare who 'defined our modern conception of what it is to be human.'
Acclaimed Chicago based artists, soprano Hannah De Priest, baritone Schyler Vargas, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Metzger, violist da gamba Craig Trompeter, and pianist Brent Funderburk join co-founder, artistic director and Festival curator Nicholas Phan for these exciting performances.
